 ECDL Essentials

ECDL Essentials covers basic computer skills and the use of common applications in the workplace, the home
and in society in general. A test in each module must be passed before the ECDL Essential
Cert is awarded.

Course Content:

The 4 ECDL modules are as follows:

1. ECDL Word Processing
2. ECDL Computer Essentials
3. ECDL Online Essentials
4. ECDL Spreadsheets

The tests in these modules do not have to be taken in any specific order. When a candidate
registers on an ECDL programme, he/she is allocated a Skills Card on which their progress
through the four tests is recorded. When all four modules are successfully completed, the
European Computer Driving License Essential Certificate is awarded.

Duration: 3 Hours, 1 evenings or mornings per week for 13 weeks. A Skills Card (Cert) and
exams are included in this price.
A certificate is awarded by ICS-Skills (Irish Computer Society) on successful completion of
the course.

Note: The ECDL is not a suitable course for beginners and we would recommend that
prospective candidates should complete the intermediate course before progressing onto the
ECDL.
