  Frequently Asked Questions - Support Programme

  1.              How much does the course cost? 

·                    Each class will cost €15.

·                    However classes must be paid for per term.

·                    Course fees are non-refundable

·                    Term lengths differ from 5 to 8 weeks and therefore so does the cost per term.

·                    For the academic year 2020-2021 the following are the proposed term dates – these are subject to change

Term 1  -  14/9/20                                                             6 weeks     €90

Term 2  -  2/11/20                                                             6 weeks     €90

Term 3  -  11/1/20                                                             6 weeks     €90

Term 4  -  22/2/20                                                             6 weeks     €90

Term 5  -  12/4/20                                                             TBC

 

·                  Mid-Term intensive courses are charged per course as some are 1 to 1 tuition (orals), information will be made available as courses are scheduled.

 

 

2.                 What material is covered in the course? 

 

·                  Each class is designed to help students with their preparations for either the Junior or Leaving Certificate exams

·                 There will be a schedule of work available per term, you may request to see this

·                 Teachers will endeavour to address the needs of the induvial groups/classes

 

3.                 What are the class sizes? 

·                    Normal Class sizes will vary, with a minimum requirement of 6 students per class

·                 Depending on availability of teachers and class popularity we anticipate a maximum of 12 students per class. 

 

4.                 What do students need to bring on the day? 

·                    All classes day one - Note pad, exam papers, calculator

·                    Depending on certain topics within subjects, teacher will advise in advance if other materials are required for example - rulers, math set, log book, graph paper, colouring pencils etc.

 

5.                 Are there transport services available?

 

·                 Yes – subject to demand a bus from Tullamore to Ballycommon is available from a local taxi firm. Cost pp is subject to demand and it is hoped that it would cost no more than €3-4pp.

6.                 Where is the course held?

 

·                    Ballycommon Telework and Training Centre, Ballycommon, Tullamore, Co. Offaly

·                    We are situated 10 mins from Tullamore town

·                    Directions:

Taking the Cappincur road out of Tullamore,

Turn left before Ballinagar village for Ballycommon,

Drive over Ballycommon Bridge, 

Pass the GAA field on the right,

Left at the y junction and Ballycommon TTC is on the left.

 

7.                 Who are the Tutors on the course?

 

·                    All tutors are specially selected for their command of their chosen subject

·                    Individual tutor qualifications are available on our web site www.ballycommonttc.com

 

8.                 How long do the classes last?

 

·                    Weekly class are one hour and fifteen minutes for a set of between 5 to 8 weeks

·                    Mid-term intensive courses are one hour long with 2-4 classes ran consecutively

10.            Do I need to pay a deposit?

 

·      Yes. A booking deposit must be made to secure a place and the balance must be paid at the first class. 

·        If no payment is made your child is not booked in.

·      Even if students have attended the previous term, they will not be booked into the next term unless a deposit is paid. 

·        Students who have attended previous terms will be given preference over new students provided they have all fees paid on time and have paid a booking de

·        Students who have not paid a booking deposit should not attend the classes for a number of reasons. Firstly on health and safety grounds their name will not be on the sign in sheet and in the event of an emergency they may not be missed, secondly their place may have been given to another student on our waiting lists and thirdly refusal of entry to the class may upset students.

 

11.            When do I need to pay full cost?

 

·        You must pay the full amount on the first day of the term.

 

12.            What happens if my child misses a class?

 

·        A courtesy call to let us know your child will not be attending would be appreciated

·        Course fees are non-refundable – unless under exceptional circumstances to be decided by Ballycommon TTC

 

13.            When I book a place am I booked in for the full year?

 

·        No, classes are booked per term.

·        Terms vary on the school calendar from 5 to 8 weeks

·        Even if students have attended the previous term, they will not be booked into the next term unless a booking deposit has been paid

·        Students who have attended previous terms will be given preference over new students provided they have all fees paid on time and have paid a booking deposit for the new term. 

·        Separate booking is also required for midterm intensive courses

 

14.            How do I book a place on the midterm intensive courses?

15.            If I have my child booked in for the term are they also booked in on midterm intensive courses?

 

·        No, separate booking is required

·        Students who have attended previous terms will be given preference over new students provided they have all fees paid on time

16.            Why does my child have to sign a Sign in sheet if I have paid?

 

·        On health and safety grounds all students must sign in to each class so that in the event of an emergency all students can be accounted for.

 

17.            Will my child get homework from tutors?

 

·        No

·        The programme is designed to support the school curriculum

 

18.            How can I pay?

 

·        You can pay by cash, card or cheque

·        Please pay at Ballycommon TTC reception during office hours 9am – 5pm or call 05793-53177
